The Artificial Intelligence Journey | Meet The Team: Anza Ghaffar
So far we shared two stories of our team members, about our CEO and our CTO, and today we continue with our #MeetTheTeam series, where we’ll tell the 'edventures' of our AI Lead, Anza Ghaffar.
Anza has a background in IT and telecommunications and has been working with Data Science for almost 8 years now. Everything started when he was getting his bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering at the National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences, in Pakistan. Right after graduating, he started working as a data analyst in his home country, operating in different kinds of tasks, such as a 2G Rural Coverage Enhancement Project for one of his pasts employments.
After two years, he moved to Finland to pursue a Master’s degree in Wireless Industrial Automation. That was when he started getting increasingly involved with machine learning and artificial intelligence. For that reason, he moved to Norway to start his career in the field, working in the financial industry. He developed various types of projects for banks, like how to reduce the number of false positives in anti-money laundering using Artificial Intelligence.
Later, after finalizing his master’s, he moved to Austria to work for the United Nations as a data scientist within the bioinformatics field, in the plant breeding and genetics laboratory. His job consisted in analyzing the DNA of plants to improve the crops and cultivations, and also improve them in a way they wouldn’t be affected by specific diseases in different countries.

It was while working at the UN, that Anza got in contact with Alexander and “met” Edventures. What made him motivated by Alex’s idea was that Edventures wants to provide tools and assistance which will help young entrepreneurs in a way where they are able to start their journeys more easily than what is available right now. Because even though the information is there it can be tricky finding the right information that is exactly what you need, in a way you are able to understand it. And it was Edventure’s mission that made Anza join our team.
“We need to provide them with information that can be used in a more efficient and easy way”.
Now, based in Finland, Anza started as our AI Lead in 2020, and since then he’s been working on different types of tasks, involving Data Science to Natural Language Processing, Machine Learning and more. He’s operating on the backend side of our product, to help develop it and make our vision come true.
